David Hernandez tells diverse suppliers to not be discouraged by slowing economy

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – June 13, 2008Liberty Power, one of the fastest growing, independent energy retailers in the United States, today announced that CEO David Hernandez delivered the keynote address at the 23rd Annual Florida Regional Minority Business Council (FRMBC) Business Expo held on May 9th, 2008 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Each year, the FRMBC Business Expo serves as a forum for workshops and roundtable discussions on minority business development in the region. This year, a large number of minority business owners expressed concerns about the lack of growth opportunities in the slowing economy. Hernandez addressed these concerns by drawing comparisons to today’s economy and how it compares to 2002, when Liberty Power was in its first year of operation.

Despite the economic uncertainties stemming from a credit crunch, an energy crisis, increasing unemployment, and volatile energy markets, “Entrepreneurs must learn to see the silver lining. What you lack in resources, you must compensate for by being resourceful,” Hernandez stated.

The honor of speaking before this distinguished group provides yet another example of how Liberty Power and Hernandez, along with co-founders Eliezer Hernandez and Alberto Daire, continue to be recognized as leaders in the minority-business community. Last year, Liberty Power was named the fastest growing Hispanic business in the United States by Hispanic Business Magazine. Also in 2007, David Hernandez was named to the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) board of directors. He has also been named National Hispanic Businessman of the Year by the USHCC, National Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year by the National Hispanic Professional Organization and Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year by Hispanic Business Magazine during his tenure at Liberty Power.
