In 2007, Liberty Power was named the fastest growing Hispanic owned company in the United States by Hispanic Business magazine. Under Mr. Hernandez’s leadership, Liberty Power, the only minority owned electric retail provider with a national presence, currently serves over 25,000 small to medium sized businesses as well as over 20 Fortune 1000 companies in 10 states.
Mr. Hernandez was recently awarded the 2007 Businesman of the Year by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He has also been named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005 by Hispanic Business magazine, and was honored as the 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year by Hispanic magazine.
Mr. Hernandez has been profiled in print and television features, such as on NBC’s Hispanic Today, CNN Español, the Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel, U.S. News & World Report, the Providence Journal and others.
A native of Cuba, Mr. Hernandez graduated Magna Cum Laude from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Palm Beach, Florida, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He later earned an MBA from the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business. During 2005 and 2006, Mr. Hernandez served on the Stern School’s Alumni Council and in 2004, was awarded NYU’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
