FORT LAUDERDALE – September 21, 2006 – Liberty Power, the first and only national, minority–owned retail power provider, today announced that CEO David Hernandez has been named “Businessman of the Year” for the southeast region of the United States by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC). Hernandez received the award this morning at a breakfast at the 27th Annual USHCC National Convention in Philadelphia. Hernandez is also one of six finalists for the distinction of National Hispanic Businessman of the Year, which will be announced at an awards ceremony at the convention on Saturday evening, September 23.

Liberty Power: National Hispanic Professional Organization (NHPO) gives Liberty Power CEO David Hernandez its Annual “National Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year Award”

Houston – On September 7, 2006 – Before a gathering of over 300 Hispanic business and civic leaders at The Magic Island restaurant in Houston, the National Hispanic Professional Organization awarded Liberty Power CEO and Co–Founder David Hernandez its Annual National Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year award.

The National Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year award is given to Hispanic professionals who have “met challenges with success and who have made a difference in the Hispanic business community,” said Ben Mendez, President of the NHPO. “We chose to honor David because of his great success in such a short time. After being laid off from Enron, he and his partners built a company that surpassed $100 million in revenue in 2005 after just four years of operations. Furthermore, by establishing the Liberty Power Foundation, David has proven that he has not forgotten his Hispanic roots,” said Mendez.

David Hernandez, Liberty Power CEO and Co–founder participated in a panel discussion “Are Hispanics Natural Born Entrepreneurs?” at the annual National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on June 16, 2006. The panel focused on the booming growth of Hispanic businesses and the entrepreneurs fueling that growth. Hernandez, who started Liberty Power from his living room after separating from Enron in 2001, has taken the company from four employees and less than $800,000 in revenue, to 36 employees and $102 million in revenue in 2005. He was named Hispanic Business Magazine’s Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2005.

Liberty Power: Power Partners: The Liberty Foundation Sponsors "Teen Read Week" At The Pasadena Public Library

Houston, Texas – September 23, 2004 – Liberty Power, a national, independent retail electricity provider, announced today that its non–profit subsidiary, The Liberty Foundation, will fund the purchase of several computers to be awarded at the conclusion of “Teen Read Week” at the City of Pasadena Public Library. “Teen Read Week” is a week long series of events at the Library aimed at encouraging reading,creative writing and artistic expression among the teenage population in the City of Pasadena.
